NEF-Awani ICT Awards is an awards concept introduced to give recognition to deserving companies via an integrated media platform.

There are two (2) main sections of the awards which are:

1) ICT Awards

The Bumiputera Creative and Technology companies are often underexposed or not highlighted enough even though there are successful and innovative Bumiputera companies in Malaysia and globally. They are often seen as second-tier and not given enough recognition in the market. There is a need to change this perception and bring forward more capable Bumiputera companies to the forefront.

The objectives for this awards are:

1. To provide recognition and hence further enhancing the company value
2. To show to the general public that there exists capable Bumiputera companies
3. To inspire others to be better or to be a technopreneur themselves

The ICT Awards section have seven (7) categories that recognize all clusters under ICT Awards as follows:

1. Best Software
2. Best Animation/Games
3. Best New Media Application/Content
4. Most Innovative Company
5. Best Start-up Company
6. Best Mobile Content/Application
7. Best Young Technopreneur

2) People’s Choice Awards

Besides awarding Bumiputera Creative and Technology companies, NEF feels that there is a need to recognize players who make the our lives better through ICT. In line with the Innovative Malaysia 2010 campaign launched by YAB Dato Seri Najib Tun Razak, NEF wants to recognize these players via a People’s Choice Awards.

The People’s Choice Awards have eight (8) categories.

1. Favourite E-Government Solution
2. Favourite Online Banking
3. Favourite E-Services
4. Favourite Entertainment Portal/Blog
5. Favourite E-Community
6. Favourite Telecommunication Company
7. Favourite Social Networking Platform
8. Favourite ICT Device Brand

These categories were chosen because their services fundamentally have an impact to the ICT usage in the online sphere. We want everyone to vote their choice of service provider with the hope that they will continue to provide us par excellence services because their services are not restricted to only Malaysians in the country but also extended towards all netizens across the whole world.
